The “Fast 50” list, previously called the “Fastest-Growing Private Companies Awards,” is based on the percentage growth for fiscal years 2015, 2016 and 2017. This year’s 50 finalists were divided into five categories and ranked 1-10:

  • Extra Small: annual revenues between $750,000 and $3.69 million
  • Small: annual revenues between $3.7 million and $8.29 million
  • Medium: annual revenues between $8.3 million and $23.3 million
  • Large: between $23.4 million and $73.9 million
  • Extra Large: the largest private companies, with revenues in excess of $74 million

A colleague, Nicole, and I had the privilege to represent Accucode, Inc. at the Fast 50 cocktail reception for the award ceremony finalists and winner announcements last week at Infinity Park in Glendale, Colorado. Close to Accucode’s headquarters, Infinity Park is a sports stadium outside of Denver. Interesting fact: at one time it was the unofficial home stadium of the United States national rugby union team! As part of the marketing team and avid sports fans, we were ecstatic to be able to attend the ceremony.

Walking into the reception room, we could feel the high energy of other local, successful entrepreneurs and colleagues in the room. The feeling of excitement and intrigue took over both of us and were ready to get the evening started. We had the opportunity to not just exchange business cards, but to really get to know and explore other local businesses from all backgrounds– not just tech. Many of the finalists brought their teams and one team even arrived in a party bus!

The Denver Business Journal’s theme of the evening was “Bringing the Heat,” which was perfect for the occasion.  A “chili wall” completed the theme for everyone to enjoy. The “wall” consisted of all different flavors of chili so that everyone could find something they liked. They went even further with the theme, offering all the traditional accoutrements like tamales, chili rellenos, chips & world famous 505 Southwestern Salsa. Even the reception brought the heat in a local way, with local chefs and Colorado’s famous green chiles used.

Shortly after taking our seats at a round table towards the middle of the room, the lights dimmed and the ceremony began. We could tell everyone was on the edge of their seats– maybe nervous, but mostly excited! Once everyone was settled in, short video clips played up on the 360-degree movie screen. We sat back, relaxed and watched the videos as they played throughout the ceremony. In the videos, we learned about each of the finalists’ growth strategies, why they’re on a hot streak and what they consider their “secret sauce.”  It was great to listen and see the personalities behind the companies. It was not all business, but an entertaining and lively night in the heart of Infinity Park. Listen to what our CEO, Kevin Price, had to say here.

Accucode is honored and thankful to be a winner in the 50 fastest-growing private companies in Denver for the second year in a row! [See the full article and slideshow of all 50 DBJ finalists here]
